Finding my place in Ailey’s legacy as a Queer Black man

Like me, Alvin Ailey had navigated the intersections of Blackness and queerness in a world that wasn't always ready for either.

In honor of National Black HIV/AIDS Awareness Day, and Black History Month, we heard from William Dean, a long-time member of SFAF’s community support program Black Brothers Esteem, and co-founder of Brothers Who Read.

We are deeply concerned by the freeze on federal funding, halt to PEPFAR funding, harmful executive actions, ban on DEI programs, actions against immigrants, anti-trans and anti-LGBTQ+ actions, and more.

SFAF partners with organizations across San Francisco to provide quality, culturally-competent sexual health and substance use services through an equity lens.
