Nicollete (Nico) Maristela is the Director of the Counseling Program with The Stonewall Project, where she oversees the substance use treatment, mental health counseling, and clinical internship programs that are part of The Stonewall Project. Nico is a licensed marriage and family therapist who brings her lived experience and perspective as a peer to her counseling and leadership of Stonewall.
Nico joined SFAF in 2017 as an intern during Stonewall’s one-year clinical internship program. Afterwards, she was hired as the interim intake coordinator and counselor for Stonewall. In 2019, Nico joined staff as a counseling specialist with Stonewall, supporting the expansion of the contingency management program and additional counseling services at SFAF’s 6th Street Center.
Nico is personally committed to the harm reduction approach employed by Stonewall, and the social justice values the program and organization overall support. She holds a master’s degree in counseling psychology from the University of San Francisco.
