Substance Use Treatment

We provide many pathways to substance use treatment and counseling through SFAF programs and services, and can offer referrals to partner organization programs including inpatient treatment.

Medications for opioid use disorder (MOUD)

Suboxone (buprenorphine)

We provide Suboxone treatment to people who are interested in stopping or reducing their use of opiates through the Street Medicine team operated by the San Francisco Department of Public Health. For more information, visit the 6th Street Center in person during regular hours, or stop by the Tuesday evening mobile health site at Duboce.

Methadone

We are able to link participants to methadone services in San Francisco. For more information, stop by the 6th Street Center in person during regular hours.

Incentivized 12-week Support Program

For people beginning medications for opioid use disorder, we offer a 12-week incentivized program that assists people with the intake process, connection to the treatment of their choice, and maintaining use and adherence to Suboxone, methadone, or other medications.

For many participants, this program offers invaluable support as they navigate changes to their substance use.

We also provide medication lockers at our 6th Street Center for people who need a safe place to store their medications during their treatment.

Stop by the 6th Street Center while we are open to learn more and join the program.

Substance use counseling

We offer outpatient substance use counseling and treatment to gay, bisexual, and queer men, other men who have sex with men, and trans and non-binary folks through The Stonewall Project.

The Stonewall Project is a state-certified drug and alcohol treatment program.

Contingency management (PROP)

The Positive Reinforcement Opportunity Project (PROP) provides structure, community, counseling, and financial incentives during a 12-week program for people who are interested in reducing, quitting, or changing their use of meth, cocaine, or other stimulants. Call 415-487-3100 for more information.
