Emily Land (she/her) is the Vice President of Public Affairs at San Francisco AIDS Foundation, combining media and government relations, issue management, and corporate and social responsibility to inform and publicize the public messaging and positions of SFAF. She first joined the organization as an editor for the HIV blog BETA in 2014, and is passionate about raising awareness about health issues that affect people’s lives: everything from research on PrEP and HIV health to harm reduction and social justice causes.
Emily has authored more than 400 articles published between SFAF’s main website and previously BETA blog about HIV science, research, treatment, and care. She is co-author of a compendium textbook on structural HIV interventions, and has authored journal articles on the same topic. In 2020, Emily presented results from the popular “Douchie” anal health and HIV social marketing campaign launched by the SFAF Marketing & Communications team at an oral abstract session for the 2020 International AIDS Conference. Prior to joining SFAF, she worked for a social science research organization conducting translational HIV prevention research. She holds an MA from the University of Chicago. In her free time, she enjoys running, playing Wordle, and trying to keep up with her toddler son.
