Volunteer with Bridgemen: Lending a Hand: Project Open Hand
February 10 12:00 pm - 3:30 pm
Founded in 1985, Project Open Hand is a nonprofit organization that provides meals with love to seniors and the critically ill. Every day, they prepare 2,500 nutritious meals and provide 200 bags of healthy groceries to help sustain their clients as they battle serious illness, isolation, or the health challenges of aging. They serve San Francisco and Alameda Counties, engaging more than 125 volunteers every day to nourish the community.
Bridgemen/50-Plus are pleased to be helping Project Open Hand once again in their efforts and will be assisting in their Grocery Center, working in their warehouse. Grocery Center tasks may include sorting, bagging, culling food items, stocking the Grocery Center shelves, shopping for clients, or assisting in the kitchen during special projects.
We will begin our shift with lunch, served onsite, compliments of Project Open Hand.
All volunteers must dress appropriately in closed-toe shoes, shirts with sleeves (no tank tops) and full-length pants (no shorts/skirts/kilts/etc.). Hats are welcome for those who prefer not to wear hairnets. Unfortunately, if a member does not follow the dress code, the organization will not permit him to volunteer that day. Also, please wear a Bridgemen T-shirt if you have one.
