Strut Bookclub Reads “Lot” by Bryan Washington

September 28   7:00 pm - 8:30 pm

For the month of September, we are reading the book of stories titled “Lot” by Bryan Washington.
The Strut Book Club will be meeting Monday, September 28th at 7 PM, (pdt) virtually!
Please make sure to read the entire book beforehand and come ready to discuss your thoughts. This queer book club has been around since 2003 and currently are holding meetings virtually. The link to the virtual book club meeting will be posted here the day of the event.
About the book: Named one of the best books of 2019 in the New York Times by Dwight Garner, A New York Times Notable Book of 2019. In the city of Houston – a sprawling, diverse microcosm of America – the son of a black mother and a Latino father is coming of age. He’s working at his family’s restaurant, weathering his brother’s blows, resenting his older sister’s absence. And discovering he likes boys. Around him, others live and thrive and die in Houston’s myriad neighborhoods: a young woman whose affair detonates across an apartment complex, a ragtag baseball team, a group of young hustlers, hurricane survivors, a local drug dealer who takes a Guatemalan teen under his wing, a reluctant chupacabra.
If you have any questions about Strut’s events and or this Queer/Gay Book Club please feel free to contact our community events manager Baruch Porras Hernandez at
