Highlights from Recent Conferences -- Main Page

Harvey S. Bartnof, MD

This article reports selected highlights from three recent conferences: the 38th Interscience Conference on Antimicrobial Agents and Chemotherapy (ICAAC), held September 24-28, 1998 in San Diego, California; the 4th International Congress on Drug Therapy in HIV Infection (ICDTHI), held November 8-12, 1998 in Glasgow, Scotland; and the 36th Infectious Disease Society of America (IDSA) Conference, held November 12-15 in Denver, Colorado.

The ICAAC and IDSA conferences are held annually, and focus on clinical and basic science research on infectious diseases. This year, HIV/AIDS was the subject of a plurality of abstracts at both conferences. The ICDTHI conference is held biannually in Europe, and is devoted entirely to HIV/AIDS.
