Twenty Years of Walking for AIDS

Crowd gathering for inaugural AIDSWalk SF -1987
This year marks the 20th anniversary of AIDS Walk San Francisco and it still reigns as Northern California's largest one-day fundraising event for HIV/AIDS services.
In 1987, 6,000 courageous and visionary people walked through Golden Gate Park at the first AIDS Walk San Francisco, raising money and awareness about a disease that was devastating our communities. Since then, more than $60 million has been raised for the San Francisco AIDS Foundation and other Bay Area HIV/AIDS organizations through this annual 10 kilometer walk through the park.
Please plan on joining us on Sunday, July 16, and help us continue to make history. Your participation will help to demonstrate that we are all in this for the long haul--we will continue to walk until there is an end to this pandemic. Last year, more than 25,000 participants raised $3.6 million, and with your help, we can raise even more this year!
There's still time to register individually or create a team. An AIDS Walk team is typically a group of friends, family or co-workers that raise money and walk together. A team is a great way to build community by bringing friends and family together and helping to change the course of the epidemic.
