AIDS/LifeCycle 5 Breaks All Records

More than 1,800 cyclists left the Cow Palace on June 4.

Early on the morning of June 4, more than 2,200 bicyclists, roadies and staff began their 585-mile journey from San Francisco to Los Angeles in AIDS/LifeCycle 5. This year, over $8 million was raised to support the HIV/AIDS programs and services of both the San Francisco AIDS Foundation and the L.A. Gay & Lesbian Center.

From San Francisco to Santa Cruz to King City to Paso Robles to Santa Maria to Ventura to Los Angeles--and all the towns and cities in between-- crowds of people lined the roadways to cheer on the bicyclists. In addition, this year ALC partnered with many local communities in sponsoring AIDS awareness events along the route, encouraging people to learn more about the disease and to get tested for HIV.

The San Francisco AIDS Foundation is particularly grateful to our presenting sponsor for the 5th year in a row, Subaru, for their incredible generosity toward this event. Many thanks as well to Gilead, Wells Fargo, CBS 5/UPN Bay Area, FedEx, Cannondale, Southern California University of Health Sciences, Clif Bar, Joie de Vivre Hospitality, Paceline Products, Glaceau Vitamin Water and UCSF Medical Center for their generous contributions, all of which helped make this year's event such a great success.
