AIDS/LifeCycle 3
Over 1,550 Cyclists and Roadies Complete Trip to L.A.
AIDS/LifeCycle completed its third successful year with 1,200
cyclists and 367 roadies making the seven-day journey through California. This year's event raised 4.9
million dollars to support the HIV/AIDS services at the San Francisco AIDS
Foundation and the Los Angeles Gay
& Lesbian Center.
"This was another remarkable year," noted Stephen Cadby, AIDS/ LifeCycle
Associate Director. "We saw our registrations grow by 25% and we are already
off to a fast start for AIDS/LifeCycle 4."
AIDS/LifeCycle's growth is attracting the attention and support
of many in the business community. Among these are new Platinum Sponsors 24
Hour Fitness and CBS 5/UPN Bay Area 44, who have joined with our Presenting Sponsor,
Subaru, in helping promote and underwrite costs of the event.
AIDS/LifeCycle also has benefited from growing sponsorship
relationships with many local businesses, including notables such as Joie de
Vivre Hotels, Sports Basement and UCSF
Medical Center.
And, for the third year in a row, our gracious host for opening ceremonies was
the University of
San Francisco. Local
merchants have also shown support in multiple ways, such as hosting cycling
workshops that help participants prepare for their 585-mile journey.
The continued growth of AIDS/LifeCycle depends on the high
visibility of our event and our enhanced relationship with a variety of
corporations offers us a visibility beyond the grassroots efforts that began
the event in 2002.
We are presently taking registrations for AIDSLifeCycle 4, which
will take place June 5 -- 11, 2005. We invite you to sign up early for this
event. Regardless of your age or physical ability, this event is for you. We
will assist you every step of the way and will help you have the experience of
a lifetime!
