AIDS/LifeCycle 3--In Full Swing!

There's still time to register and participate!

AIDS/LifeCycle 3, the 585-mile fundraising cycling event from San Francisco to Los Angeles, that will take place June 6-12, 2004, is enjoying an exciting growth of registrations. Registrations are at over 1,600 as of February thanks to the hugely successful Kick Off Party at the W San Francisco on February 8th. Don't miss the annual Cyclist Expo in Golden Gate Park on February 29th.

According to Stephen Cadby, Associate Director of AIDS/LifeCycle, this third year of the event has a solid base of returning cyclists but is also attracting hundreds of new participants. "We are gratified by the enormous interest in our event, coming not only from Northern California, but from around the nation and even from several foreign countries." Cadby goes on to say, "The registration numbers, along with the excitement and dedication of our participants affirms that this will be a real breakthrough year for AIDS/LifeCycle, which is very good news for the clients of the San Francisco AIDS Foundation that benefit from this event."

Cadby is eager to point out that it is not too late to register and train for the event. "March is one of our largest months for registration. We have many information meetings scheduled in March, and there are training rides every weekend for people at all cycling levels. Most of our participants begin training in earnest in the early spring, so there is ample time for new folks to register and prepare for the event in June." AIDS/LifeCycle has over 80 training ride leaders organizing and leading rides throughout the Bay Area, from Sacramento to Santa Cruz. This year for the first time we also have training ride leaders in areas outside of California, including New York, Texas, Chicago, Washington D.C., and Boston.

Workshops are available to registered participants on smart cycling techniques, hill climbing, nutrition, hydration, injury prevention and proper bike fit. Consultations on fundraising strategies geared towards each individual are offered one on one or in small groups. Support for participants is also provided by a wide variety of AIDS/LifeCycle Community Support Partners--local businesses that provide discounts for relevant merchandise, such as bikes, clothing, camping equipment as well as discounts for massages, spin classes, gym memberships, and more.

Join us and meet the extraordinary folks that make up AIDS/LifeCycle by attending one of our upcoming information meetings. A complete schedule can be found on our web site: www.aidslifecycle.org or by calling us directly 415/581-7077.
