Search for a New Executive Director is Underway

The boards of the San Francisco AIDS Foundation and the Pangaea Global AIDS Foundation have begun a national search to hire an individual to serve as Executive Director for both organizations.

The search committee is chaired by Lonnie Payne, who has served for seven years on the board of the San Francisco AIDS Foundation, including two years as chair, and two years on the board of Pangaea. Lonnie has also been a board member, volunteer, client, and donor at the AIDS Foundation, bringing enormous depth of experience to this critical job.

The full search committee, made up of representatives of both boards, has over 35 years of combined experience as board members of the San Francisco AIDS Foundation and Pangaea. The majority of the committee are people living with HIV. Dan Cawley, the AIDS Foundation's Deputy Director for Finance and Administration, also serves on the committee. The search committee has adopted the following vision statement to guide its work:

"On behalf of the Boards of the San Francisco AIDS Foundation and the Pangaea Global AIDS Foundation, we will locate the best possible leader to continue the legacy of precedent setting, cutting edge, exemplary work carried out by these two leading organizations. We will search for an Executive Director committed to the mission of the AIDS Foundation and Pangaea--to end the pandemic and the human suffering caused by HIV-- who is a visionary, innovative and extraordinary manager and a strategic thinker."

The committee has engaged the services of the Phillips Oppenheim Group, a full-service executive search firm, dedicated to identifying and recruiting talented individuals for not-for-profit organizations. Phillips Oppenheim Group has experience in placing senior executives locally in San Francisco and also in other AIDS service organizations and non-profits throughout the country.
