Real Talk: Growing older as a gay man

San Francisco AIDS Foundation and STOP AIDS Project are excited to introduce Real Talk, our new public forum series. The goal of this series is to host timely, interactive dialogs and exchange knowledge and resources around topics at the forefront of discussions in our community.

Our first Real Talk forum focused on gay men and aging. In a culture that often idolizes youth, are gay men allowed to age? Are you anxious about getting older, or do you love life more with each passing year? Excluded or embraced?

Panelists and audience members of all ages shared their perspectives on the unique experience of growing older as a gay man.

This forum was held on May 23, 2012, at the San Francisco LGBT Center. Read a summary of this lively and candid public forum on the BETA blog or as a printable PDF (177 KB).

Hosted by:

Hank Plante
Former anchor and political editor, KPIX-TV

Are you attending the forum? What are your thoughts on issues related to gay men and aging? Do you have anxiety about getting older, or does life get better with each passing year? What advice would you give to someone 10, 20, or 30 years younger than you?
