Join an Event
Our fundraising events raise millions of dollars each year for the programs and services of the San Francisco AIDS Foundation. They also help build community and spark ongoing community dialogue about HIV/AIDS. We inspire participants in these events to do more for themselves and for others. Here's how you can run, ride, or walk to help end the AIDS pandemic and support your community at home and abroad.
AIDS/LifeCycle
AIDS/LifeCycle is a seven-day, 545-mile bicycle ride from San Francisco to Los Angeles that benefits and is produced by both the San Francisco AIDS Foundation and the L.A. Gay & Lesbian Center. Last June, more than 2,200 Cyclists and Roadies participated in the event, raising more than $11 million. This incredibly important event not only raises funds for HIV/AIDS services in Los Angeles and San Francisco but also raises community awareness that the AIDS pandemic is far from over. ALC highlights the vital role these two agencies play in battling the disease.
ALC7 takes place June 1-7, 2008. If you'd like to learn more, please go to AIDS/LifeCycle.
AIDS Walk San Francisco

AIDS Walk San Francisco is one of the oldest AIDS fundraisers in the country and has raised more than $60 million over the last two decades. Held every July in Golden Gate Park, it brings together thousands of San Franciscans from all walks of life who are united in their commitment to end the human suffering caused by AIDS. Last year, we raised over $4.6 million for the work of the San Francisco AIDS Foundation and dozens of other AIDS service organizations throughout the Bay Area.
Join 25,000 people in the 22nd annual AIDS Walk on Sunday, July 20, 2008. To learn more about AIDS Walk, visit
aidswalk.net/sanfran.
National AIDS Marathon Training Program
To date, more than 4,500 runners have completed marathons in Alaska, Honolulu, Miami, New Orleans, San Francisco, Vancouver, Dublin, Ireland, and Florence, Italy. They have raised over $18 million to support the San Francisco AIDS Foundation, other local AIDS service organizations, and treatment access efforts in the developing world. Our training programs transform inexperienced runners into marathoners and event participants into leaders in the fight against AIDS. The program is designed for those who've never jogged a mile as well as for seasoned long-distance runners, and gives you the choice of training for a full or half marathon.
We are now registering runners for the San Francisco Marathon or Half-Marathon. Training begins on February 16, 2008. To register or come to an info meeting, please visit National AIDS Marathon Training Program.
Proceeds from AIDS Walk and AIDS Marathon also fund HIV/AIDS Community Grants, administered by the
Horizons Foundation. This year, 43 Bay Area service organizations received $670,000 to fund critically needed HIV-related services.
Team Endurance
Team Endurance athletes all over the country raise money and participate in endurance events on behalf of the San Francisco AIDS Foundation. If you are interested in joining, or contributing to, the team, go to Team Endurance Homepage.
Annual Leadership Recognition Dinner
The San Francisco AIDS Foundation's annual Leaderhip Recognition Dinner will take place on Thursday, May 1, 2008, 6-9pm, at Fort Mason Festival Pavilion. This year, we will honor Drew Altman of the Kaiser Family Foundation, Gilead Sciences, and San Francisco Supervisor Bevan Dufty. All have done so much in the fight against HIV/AIDS, we are proud to honor their achievements.
