Stevens-Johnson syndrome: a severe form of erythema multiforme; an uncommon, potentially life-threatening hypersensitivity reaction (typically caused by a drug or by certain infections) characterized by fever and flu-like symptoms followed by a severe, blistering rash on the skin and mucous membranes, and sometimes also tissue necrosis, eye lesions, and/or internal organ damage.
