Editor's Note
In this issue of BETA, readers will find a
feature article sorting out studies of structured
treatment interruptions, as
well as an overview of the current wave of
methamphetamine use and what HIV positive
people should know about meth. Liz Highleyman untangles the complex
subject of switching antiretroviral regimens. And, as always, the "News
Briefs" column highlights recent HIV/AIDS
related developments at medical conferences
and elsewhere, and the "Open Clinical Trials" column lists important
opportunities for readers to participate in
the development of new treatments for HIV
and HIV-related conditions.
Also in this issue, members of BETA's
Scientific Advisory Committee reflect on the
past 25 years of HIV and AIDS, and on the
future. As the new editor of BETA, I am
mindful of the years of personal experience,
activism, and research that form
the foundation of this treatment education
magazine, and I look forward to providing
the accurate, thorough, and accessible HIV
health information that readers expect
from BETA.
