WHAT: AIDS/LifeCycle™ 2014 Kick Off Party and Expo
WHEN: Saturday, February 1, 11:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.
WHERE: County Fair Building, Golden Gate Park, 1199 9th Ave, San Francisco
It’s time to begin preparations for the world’s largest annual HIV/AIDS fundraiser. Hundreds of cyclists and volunteer “roadies” will gather at the County Fair Building in Golden Gate Park for the AIDS/LifeCycle 2014 Kick Off and Expo. It’s the official launch of the training and fundraising season for the 545-mile ride from San Francisco to Los Angeles in June. For one day only, people who sign up at the expo will receive a steep discount on the registration fee.
“AIDS/LifeCycle is one of the most enthusiastic, dedicated, and generous communities of people in the world,” said Neil Giuliano, foundation CEO. “Last year our participants raised a record-setting $14.4 million dollars to support the programs and services of San Francisco AIDS Foundation and the L.A. Gay & Lesbian Center, and our goal is to beat that record this year. All of our cyclists and volunteers are true heroes in the fight against HIV. They are critical to our efforts to end the HIV epidemic in our community.”
The Kick Off & Expo includes a DJ, food, wine provided by Tank 18, beer donated by Hi Tops, and much more for everyone to enjoy. AIDS/LifeCycle’s community partners will have great deals on cycling and camping gear, provide expert training and bike advice, and offer free massages. Veteran participants will be on hand to answer questions about what to pack, how to train and fundraise, what to expect on the ride, and more.

About San Francisco AIDS Foundation
No city experienced epidemic levels of HIV faster than San Francisco. At San Francisco AIDS Foundation, we work to end the epidemic where it first took hold, and eventually everywhere. Established in 1982, our mission is the radical reduction of new infections in San Francisco. Through education, advocacy, and direct services for prevention and care, we are confronting HIV in communities most vulnerable to the disease. We refuse to accept that HIV transmission is inevitable.
