JOB TITLE: Accountant
REPORTS TO: Assistant Controller
STATUS: Regular, Full-time
FLSA: Non-Exempt
STANDARD WK HOURS: 40 hrs
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Accountant functions as a member of the accounting team. Primarily responsible for payroll processing, revenue reconciliation, AIDS LifeCycle (ALC) accounting and, bank reconciliations. In addition, this position will serve as back-up for accounts payable processing. The Accountant works closely with all members of the accounting and budgeting departments regarding all issues related to areas of responsibility. Provides excellent customer service to all staff members, vendors and agency contacts.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
1. Payroll & Benefits: Responsible for all SFAF payroll processing, and related benefit accounting. Ensures accurate and timely filing of all payroll tax and benefits reporting as required by government and regulatory agencies. Complete semi-monthly payroll input for processing by outside payroll service. Complete all journal entries related to payroll. .
2. ALC:: Responsible for ALC accounting including reconciliation, invoicing, journal entries and reporting
3. Revenue Recognition: Process cash and credit card receipts and completes monthly cash receipts journal (CRJ) entry utilizing automated Access database. Reconcile finance data to development information.
4. Complete various bank and account reconciliations.
Other Skills and Abilities: Professional Accounting (GAAP) knowledge. Knowledge of local, state and federal payroll and leave administration law. Proficient in computer spreadsheets, word processing and strong knowledge of windows and excel.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field, with a minimum of two years accounting experience or equivalent years of experience required. Two years experience with payroll systems (preferably ADP).
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Skill in operating various office equipment, such as personal computer, calculator, copy machine, facsimile machine, typewriter, and telephone system. Ability to perform routine bending, stooping, twisting, and reaching. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. WORK ENVIRONMENT:
This position is primarily located at 1035 Market street; San Francisco, however may require traveling to off site meetings as required by the job. The position may work during evenings, weekends and holidays.
